Burgeo

Burgeo offers all the elements necessary to run advanced level programming. This includs consistant surf, current, challenging navigation and exposed coastline paddling. It is rare to fine such a perfect location that provides all of these challenges with a backdrop that is also stunningly beautiful.

The ocean currents and winds have created powder white sand dunes and beaches protected in Sandbanks Provincial Park. The coastline east of Burgeo is made up of steep cliffs cut by deep fjords that provide some of the only shelter during periods of bad weather.

The are has been called, "The prettiest paddle in Atlantic Canada." - We would have to agree!

 

Cape Broyle

Cape Broyle is a place where, in a single day, you can see Puffins, Whales, Icebergs, 300 foot caves, arches, and waterfalls all from the seat of your sea kayak. The diversity is phenomenal. Sheltered water and exposed coastline combine to create a learning environment that will challenge your newly developed weather interpretation and route selection skills. The opportunity to see wildlife such as humpback whales and sea birds is just the icing on the cake.

 

Gros Morne National Park

Designated a World Heritage Site by the United Nations for its geology, human history and spectacular scenery, Gros Morne National Park is a one of the nation’s premier sea kayaking destinations. The heart of the park is Bonne Bay with its stunning mountain scenery, pristine waters, and rich marine environment. To the north, Western Brook Beach and Parson's Pond offer excellent environments for surf and current training. Steep cliffs, waterfalls, green grassy fields, sea stacks and sea caves, typify the exposed coastline in an area to the north of Trout River called Green Gardens. The Green Gardens provides a stunning backdrop for the trip portion of a course.

 

Notre Dame Bay

Notre Dame Bay is one of the premier kayaking destinations in our province. The navigation through dildo run and into the Bay of Exploits is as challenging as it gets.  The tidal current can attain speeds of 6 knots and an overfall in the middle of the bay creates a combination of environmental conditions ideal for running intermediate and advanced extended paddling programs. The islands provide spectacular camping.
